Kevin Lima Remaking Don Knotts' The Incredible Mr. Limpet

Warner Brothers is remaking the 1964 family comedy classic The Incredible Mr. Limpet and has hired Enchanted director Kevin Lima to direct. The original film starred Don Knotts as Mr. Limpet, an ordinary man who one day turns into a talking fish. After his transformation, he becomes a hero by helping spot and thwart enemy warships for the Allies during WWII. The original was a live-action-animation hybrid; the remake will also be a hybrid. This update has gone through several iterations, with Robin Williams and Jim Carrey among the actors once under consideration and even Mike Judge at one point attached to direct.

Hollywood has become somewhat obsessed with these "hybrid" movies, mainly because the first Alvin & the Chipmunks was so successful ($217 million).
